The Crown Fits Again, Girls Rule Patriot Leage
The Whitman Hanson girls soccer team clinched their 4th Patriot League Championship and their 7th consecutive championship by defeating Duxbury 3-1. The Panthers opened the scoring 3 minutes into the game when Devon Morse ran onto a through ball from Mackenzie Hatfield and fired a low shot to the far corner. Yasemin Civan put Whitman Hanson up 2-0 two minutes later when she took a Hatfield pass and turned and fired shot into the upper right corner. Laura Nee put Duxbury on the board just before halftime to make it 2-1. Devon Morse scored her second goal of the night 10 minutes into the second half to account for the final score 3-1. Alyssa Eaton, Haley Bukow, Nicole Galewski, Lily Higgins, and Kelsey Murray played outstanding defense all night keeping the potent dragon offense in check. Lauren Clark made 8 saves, 3 outstanding ones, to keep the score at 3-1.
