Despite adverse weather conditions on Saturday, the Panthers brought their “A” game to the 36th annual Haverhill Invitational, which included some of the best track teams from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Connecticut. Leading the way for a great day were outstanding performances by Pat Brett and Ryan Silva in the only Freshman/Sophomore running events. Silva took 2nd place in the 200 meter and Brett took 1st place in the mile.
On the track the first varsity event was the 4X800 team of Nate Stephansky, Pat Brett, Keith Griffin, and Matt Smith who earned a 6thplace medal and added the first point to the team score. Stephansky followed up with an excellent performance in the 2 mile with a time of 10:16.4 to take 3rd. In the field the Panthers dominated with Blake Hickey winning the triple jump, Chris Ryan having an amazing day to win the discus with a throw of 125’ 5”, and Luke Laubacher taking 2nd place in the javelin with a throw of 156’. Hickey also placed in the 110 hurdles. The team had a remarkable day and finished 4th overall. The team now looks ahead to the next league competition vs. Silver Lake on Tuesday.
