A Sweep for XC
The Whitman-Hanson boys and girls cross country teams stared their season in fine fashion...each with wins over Quincy and North Quincy....at North Quincy's 2.5mi course.
The girls beat North Quincy by the score of 19-39 and beat Quincy by the score of 15-48. (WH is 2-0)
North Quincy beat Quincy 21-40.
The girls placed five girls in the top 6:
1- (SO) Sam Coletti 16:15
2- (JR) Kelsey Tierney 16:28
4- (JR) Caroline Mulrey 17:27
5- (SO) Abbie Newman 18:01
6- (JR) Megan Concannon 18:10
3rd place was North Quincy's (JR)Emily Bryson...16:22
We had some great performances today on the girls side and some okay performances. Sam, Kelsey, and Abbie were outstanding today...their summer running has definitely paid off. The top five pack time wasn't good at all but that's to be expected early in the season. As the season goes on, we will need to improve on pack running. Overall....this was a solid start.
The boys beat North Quincy 19-43 and beat Quincy 15-49. (WH is 2-0)
North Quincy beat Quincy 25-30
The boys took 6 out of the top 7 spots:
1- (SR) Brian Sheppard 13:46
3- (SO) Sam Evans 15:02
4- (JR) Pat Brett 15:04
5- (FR) Lucas Moscoso 15:09
6- (SR) Ty Durant 15:45
7- (SR) Steve Smart 16:07
2nd place was North Quincy's (SR) Mike Mullaney 14:29
The boys had a great individual performance by Brian Sheppard...and a solid 2,3,4 pack. Once the 5 and 6 runners get rolling, this is going to be an exciting team to watch. The freshmen boys showed some promise in this race and should continue to improve as the season moves along.
