The Whitman-Hanson
Wrestling team travelled to Duxbury this Saturday to compete in a rare team
tournament with 7 other squads. The Panthers drew a tough Methuen team in the
first round, much of the match saw things stay close with the score being 24-18
after 8 of the 14 matches. Methuen's upper weight classes proved difficult
to beat as they eventually pulled out a 51-21 victory.
The Black and Red moved
on to face local rival Hanover in thier second match where W-H fell behind
early before Junior Tyson Plouse (132 lbs.) turned things around, pinning
his opponent in an exciting back and forth match. W-H came back to post a
48-27 victory when it was all said and done.
The final matchup of the
day was Masconomet for W-H. This too was a close match for most of the meet,
before Masco pulled away 45-27 at the end with some solid performances from
thier lighter weight categories.
