It is with great pleasure that we announce Whitman-Hanson senior Jess Govoni being selected by her league to receive the 2014 Boston Bruins-MIAA Sportsmanship Award. This award is given annually by the Boston Bruins and the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) to one individual from each high school ice hockey league in the state who best exemplifies the highest standards of fair play and sportsmanship.
The presentation of this prestigious award will take place on Monday, March 17th at the TD Garden during an intermission of the Boston Bruins game against the Minnesota Wild. Jess and a guest will be special guests of the Bruins at that game.
This is a well-deserved honor for an outstanding player, student and leader here at Whitman-Hanson. She led her team to the league title with an incredible performance in net. She led the league in goals against average by giving up less than 2 goals per game.
