Panthers volleyball defeats PS
> Whitman-Hanson travelled to Plymouth South tonight and played a great game to earn the win 3-1. The game scores were 27-25, 23-25, 25-18 and 25-14. The Panthers put together a great game to defeat a strong Plymouth South team. In the first set both teams played strong with the lead changing back and forth many times. In the end the Panthers offense was too strong for Plymouth South. In the second set the Panthers struggled to get on the right track due to lack of communication as a team and struggled to pass well. The Panthers rallied late in the second to pull even with Plymouth South but in the end Plymouth South earned the win with strong play from their middle attackers. In the third and fourth sets the Panthers took over with tough serving and smart attacks out of the middle to keep Plymouth South on their heels. Halle Julian and Sophie O'Brien were able to stifle the Plymouth South attack with great blocking at the net. Whitman-Hanson sealed the fourth set victory with awesome serving from Alyssa Gacicia who helped the Panthers pull away from Plymouth South for the victory. Playing well for Whitman-Hanson tonight were Alyssa Gacicia with 11 aces and 24 assists; Halle Julian with 11 blocks and 7 kills; and Sophie O'Brien with 12 kills and 4 blocks. Whitman-Hanson moves to 5-3 on the season and hosts Norwell on Thursday.
