Whitman-Hanson Volleyball Silver Lake 3-0
Whitman-Hanson hosted the Silver Lake Lakers tonight and pulled out their first win of the season 3-0. The game scores were 25-14, 25-20 and 25-17. The Panthers started slow in the first set and let the Lakers get out to a lead by few points. The game was back and forth for the early part of the match but tri-Captain Sophie O'Brien came up big in the middle capitalizing on Laker over passes to secure the Panther win in the first set. Strong serving by Chiarra Cassiano also helped the Panthers in the first set. In the second set the Panthers started out with some rough play in the defensive part of the game but the defense of Jordyn Keith and smart hitting by Madison Scott helped Whitman-Hanson secure the second set victory. In the third and deciding set the Panthers Alyssa Gacicia played great at the setters position and helped the Panther offense secure the victory with her setting. Key players tonight were Sophie O'Brien with 13 kills,2 blocks and strong serving; Jordyn Keith played strong in the back row making several key digs and Halle Julian with 4 blocks and 5 kills. The Panthers move to 1-2 on the season and head to Rockland on Monday.
