Whitman-Hanson Boys Cross Country traveled to Hingham on Tuesday afternoon in a battle of unbeaten teams lost to a strong Harbormen team 21-36. Hingham's Mike Durkin led the host team and finished first on the 2.88 mile course in 15:04. The Panthers were led by Junior Captain Lukas Moscoso (3rd, 15:34) and Sophomore Jack Ryan (4th, 15:40.) Hingham took places 5-7 to seal the win. Senior Patrick Duffey (8th, 15:53), Senior Captain Sam Evans (10th, 16:17) and Junior Bryce Pulkinen (11th, 16:23) also ran well and scored for Whitman-Hanson. Whitman-Hanson Boys drop to 6-1 on the season, while Hingham remains undefeated at 7-0.
Whitman-Hanson Girls Cross Country's Samantha Coletti outdistanced her nearest competitor on the Hingham course by over a minute, but it wasn't enough for the Panthers who lost to Hingham in a close race, 27-32. Hingham's Kelly Aymar finished 2nd in 18:33, while Abbie Newman's (3rd, 18:42) strong finish nipped Hingham's 4th place finisher Paige King (18:43). Sophomore Nicole Norve (5th, 18:44) had a strong race, but Hingham took the next four spots for the win. Hingham now stands at 6-1 on the season, Whitman-Hanson drops to 5-2.
