The Whitman-Hanson Girls Varsity Lacrosse team dropped
the season opener at Oliver Ames today, 12-10 in non-league action. The
freezing rain and snow added to a slow start for WH who went into the half down
9-3. The second half was a different story. The Panthers started gaining
control of the draw and keeping the ball on the offensive end. WH chipped away
at the lead and had a few good looks at goal, but missed by inches. Taylor
McVeigh was huge with 4 goals, 2 assists and 6 draw controls. Also scoring for
the Panthers was Riley MacDonald (2
goals), Mel McAleer (1 goal, 3 assists), Ali Joanis (goal, assist), Zoe Lydon.(goal), and Mik
White ( assist). Kasey Molito had 10 saves in goal for WH.
