The Whitman-Hanson Boys Cross Country team (1-0) got off on the right foot with a 19-42 win over Quincy/North Quincy on its home course Thursday afternoon. Seniors Andrew Newman (17:02) and Jack Ryan (18:03) finished 1-2 ahead of Q/NC 's Ronan Kelly who placed 3rd on the tough 5K course. W-H Senior Alex Uva (4th, 18:47) and Freshman Liam Cafferty (5th, 18:57) bested Ryan Posgrave who ran well for Q/NQ finishing 6th in 19:21. Also scoring for the Panthers was Senior Joe Coletti (7th, 19:59.)
Whitman-Hanson Senior Nicole Norve won the 5K race versus Quincy/North Quincy in a time of 20:59, but Quincy/North Quincy placed the next 3 runners to seal the victory 31-25. Maeve White (2nd, 21:30), Abby Murphy (3rd, 22;23) and Devin Hiltunen (4th, 22:25) all ran well for Q/NQ. W-H runners Julia Cosgrave (5th, 22:35) and Camryn Boyce (6th, 23:14) both ran strong races in the Panther loss.
