RECAP WH Gymnastics Meet 12/19/17

Gymnastics: Whitman-Hanson vs Pembroke/Silver Lake, Hingham, Marshfield

Determination, team spirit, and positive attitudes abounded as the Panther Gymnasts (125.1) opened their season with a huge quad meet victory over league teams Pembroke/Silver Lake (123.3) and Hingham (121.75) and non-league Marshfield (123.05). This win is a wonderful team effort.

First year team member, senior Britney Blackstone, was overall victorious in the all-around (34.7), uneven bars (8.7), and floor exercise (9.0). She tied for first on vault with Pembroke/Silver Lakes's Tori Newton, with an (8.8) and placed second on beam with an 8.2.  Britney comes to us from a club gymnastics team, and we are very excited to have her immense talent and work ethic in our line up this season.

Second year sophomore, Sarah Bombardier, was fifth in all around (30.35), tied for 3rd on floor (8.2), and had the fifth highest score on vault (8.3).

Freshmen, Savannah Poirier, made a solid debut with some of the teams highest scores; she had Whitman-Hanson's second highest score on bars with a 7.85 and the team's third highest score on floor with an 8.1.

Stuck beam routines came from veterans Erin McCoy and Captain Kailigh Gordon and newcomers, freshmen Madison Scaccia and senior Britney Blackstone.

Overall, the team has made immense improvements on the uneven bars this season which has typically been our weakest event in the past.

Of note, captain Kaylee Torpey was out injured.
