The Panthers of Whitman-Hanson, who were on the road for their first varsity baseball game of the 2019 season, defeated Silver-Lake today 13-2 in 5 innings.
Senior Tr-Captain Rian Schwede went the full five innings on the mound, while the other 2 Tri-Captains, Mike Cook and Ethan Phelps, led by example at the plate by driving the ball hard for key hits in the game.
Senior Aidan Cafferty had a huge rbi single in the first inning to get Whitman-Hanson out to a lead they would never relinquish.
Juniors Devin Coulstring and Chris Zalewski were also impressive at the plate in their first varsity start, Coulstring banging out two big hits.
Whitman-Hanson is now 1-0 in Patriot League play and overall. Tomorrow, Thursday, the Panthers will host Plymouth South at 4:00 P.M.
