Baseball's Season Comes to End

Even after committing 4 errors and leaving 11 men on base, Whitman-Hanson still almost  pull out a second tournament win. The game ended as W-H left the tying run stranded on second base.

Westwood will advance after defeating the Panthers 4-3 at Whitman-Hanson.

Sophomore Tommy Marshall pitched  5 strong innings and gave up only 2 earned runs. Senior Rian Schwede came in and also pitched magnificently for 2 innings, but he too was also victimized by  poor fielding by the Panthers.

On offense, W-H also had a bad day. They left 11 men on base, including a chance to break the game wide open in the bottom of the sixth inning when they loaded  bases with 1 out.

Instead, Westwood turned a 1-2-3 double play to get out of the jam and close out the W-H scoring.

Whitman-Hanson completed its season at 15-7,which means the senior tri-captains and 4-year varsity players Rian Schwede, Mike Cook, and Ethan Phelps, experienced 61 wins,  2 league championships, and 4 tournament appearances over their four years participating as varsity baseball players. The rest of the seniors were also part of this terrific season and last year's league title.  They include: Derek Frank, Cam Gray, Evan Clark, Sean MacKay, Aidan Cafferty and Will Newell.
