Co-Captain Tommy Marshall took his turn on the hill for
Whitman-Hanson today and pitched the Panthers into the Patriot Cup Finals by
scattering 6 hits, walking 1, and striking out 12 Duxbury batters in a 6-2 win
at home.
Tommy also helped his own cause by going 3 for 4 at the
plate including an RBI double off of Duxbury starter Matt Festa in the bottom of the 4th to break a 2-2 tie.
The Panthers went ahead 2 to 0 in the bottom of the
first inning after Bobby Marshall led off the game with a single.
Cole LeVangie struck the big blow in the bottom of the
fifth when he drove a triple to the fence and scored 2 more runs to put W-H up
5-2.
Junior Aidan Barry then
followed him with an RBI double of his own.
Bobby Marshall came in on and pitched the last inning,
striking out 2 hitters and retiring the side in order..
Whitman-Hanson is now 8-2 in Patriot League and 10-2 overall.
On Monday the Panthers will travel to Plymouth South, who
beat Plymouth North today in their semi-final game.
