Whitman Hanson Spring Sports begin on Monday March 21st. Below you will find important information from each sports team. Please pay close attention to the details provided. There will be a mandatory meeting of all spring sport athletes on Wednesday February 9th at 2:15pm in the Performing Arts Center. We will meet as an entire group and then break off with your respective coaches.
Baseball

Softball
Girls softball tryouts will be held the week of March 21st.Times will be posted the week before on our social media accounts (accounts and handles posted below) Please make sure to have the appropriate equipment for both indoor and outdoor tryouts. This means you should have the appropriate footwear (sneakers and cleats) as well as your softball gloves, helmets and bat. Also, please makes sure you dress for the appropriate weather.
There will be a JV and Varsity team and all updates will be posted on twitter and instagram so please make sure to follow the following accounts: @WHathletics & @jordcoach (both can be found on twitter) our instagram accounts are @coach_jord and @wh_softball21.

Practices will run during the week from 2:30-4:30 with a weekend practice (TBD).

Boys Tennis
Boys Tennis tryouts will be held the week of March, 21st. Please bring your own racquet, water, and a positive attitude. Come ready to work hard and have fun. All levels are welcome to try out. Even if you’ve never played competitively, you are still invited to come and give it a shot. This is a varsity-level only program, so it is important to bring in newer/younger players who can develop the skills needed to be competitive. Practices run from 3:00 - 5:00 daily, unless otherwise indicated. If you have any questions, you can reach Coach Lopes at Joshua.lopes@whrsd.org.
Girls Tennis
Girls tennis will have tryouts starting the week of march 21rst. Practice/tryouts will be at the tennis courts from 2-3:30 and 3:30-4 for conditioning. Tryouts will be mon-thursday. Girls are responsible for their own racquets. Any questions you can email coach sookiasian at susansooki@aol.com
Boys Lacrosse
The first week of practice will be 3/21-3/25 3:15-4:45 PM. On the first day of practice, all players must be at the field by 3:00 PM in the corner of the bleachers nearest the locker room for a pre-practice team meeting. Please be fully dressed in your gear ready to practice. In order to participate, please make sure your physical is up-to-date, completed a concussion test, and be academically eligible for spring sports.
Required equipment: Helmet, gloves, stick, elbow pads, shoulder pads WITH A CHEST PLATE, mouth guard, cleats or turf sneakers (no running sneakers), reversible pinnie and a hard-working positive attitude ready to have fun and get after it!
On Tuesday, March 29, we will be hosting a 3 team scrimmage starting at 4:00 PM. We will practice on some Sundays and times will be determined on an as going basis.
Do not use the locker room at the field (half-time room) until Coach Sabens gives permission. AS A TEAM, YOU WILL EARN THE LOCKER ROOM. Until then, please bring your gear in a bag or on your stick.

Girls Lacrosse
Tryouts take place over 3 days: Monday 3/21 - Wednesday 3/23 from 5 - 7. Please arrive at 4:30 on the first day to check in. As with any sport, you must take care of the basics (physical, concussion test and of course grades) or you can not participate.
We could use a few more 9th graders and no experience necessary. People who like to run and are athletic pick up the sport quickly - sports like, soccer, field hockey and hockey cross over well. Contact Coach Decker if you have any questions.
Practice times (we practice outside in most weather)
Varsity 5-7 M-F and some Sundays also 5-7
JV 4:30 - 6 (maybe 6:15 some days - you will know ahead of time)
Freshman - 4:30 - 6
Required Equipment - A positive attitude …. And a Stick, Mouth Guard, Googles (must be stamped with ASTM standard F3077.) and Water. Bring both turf cleats and sneakers. Dress in layers. Also, Do not wear RED, as we use red pinnies in drills.

Important: all athletes must sign up online at WH Athletics. Athletes must have a current physical ( last 13 months) on file with the school. Also have a current concussion impact test on file.
